Climate Change Adaptation Resilience (CCAR) & Livelihoods & DRR

Climate change is increasingly affecting vulnerable communities through extreme weather events, resource degradation, livelihood insecurity, food system disruptions, and growing socio-economic inequalities. At Change Alliance Private Limited (CAPL), the Climate Change Adaptation Resilience (CCAR) & Livelihoods vertical works to strengthen the resilience of communities, institutions, and ecosystems through climate-responsive, inclusive, and sustainable development approaches.

We partner with governments, development agencies, donors, private sector actors, and communities to design and implement solutions that reduce climate vulnerability, strengthen adaptive capacities, and improve livelihoods for climate-sensitive populations. Our work focuses particularly on vulnerable rural communities, women, youth, smallholder farmers, and marginalized groups who are disproportionately impacted by climate change.

Our Focus Areas:

1.1 Climate Risk, Resilience & Adaptation Planning

We support institutions and communities in assessing climate risks, vulnerabilities, and resilience capacities to develop localized adaptation pathways. Our interventions include climate vulnerability and resilience assessments, adaptation planning, climate risk mapping, ecosystem security, and policy advisory for climate-informed decision-making.

1.2 Sustainable Livelihoods & Climate-Resilient Agriculture

We promote climate-resilient livelihoods through sustainable agriculture, agro-ecological practices, diversified income opportunities, and market-oriented interventions. Our work includes climate-smart agriculture, natural resource management, agri-value chains, post-harvest management, livestock sustainability, women and youth inclusion, and strengthening rural enterprises.

1.3 Green Enterprise, Renewable Energy & Net Zero Solutions

We facilitate low-carbon and green transitions by supporting renewable energy adoption, energy-efficient systems, green enterprises, and emissions reduction pathways. Our interventions integrate solar energy solutions, clean energy access, green MSMEs, and climate mitigation approaches to build resilient and sustainable local economies.

1.4 Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) & Humanitarian Resilience

We work with vulnerable communities to strengthen disaster preparedness, climate resilience, and locally led adaptive systems that reduce risks and safeguard lives and livelihoods. Our approach integrates community-based Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), climate-resilient livelihoods, preparedness planning, early warning systems, and climate-informed decision-making to help communities anticipate, prepare for, and respond to climate-induced disasters and humanitarian challenges. We promote inclusive and community-driven resilience systems by strengthening local leadership, particularly the participation of women and vulnerable groups in preparedness, response, and recovery processes.

Our work focuses on reducing vulnerabilities arising from floods, droughts, heat waves, cyclones, and other extreme weather events through community preparedness, DRR capacity building, mock drills, and integration of resilience measures into livelihood systems. As part of our humanitarian response efforts, we have supported emergency response initiatives during disasters such as floods and cyclones through collaboration with partner organizations, including relief coordination and support for vulnerable populations affected by climate-induced emergencies.

Our Approach

Our work is guided by a community-centered, systems-based, and gender-responsive approach that integrates climate adaptation with livelihoods, institutions, and local governance. We work across the entire ecosystem — from assessment and planning to implementation, capacity building, monitoring, and scale-up.

We emphasize:

  • Locally-led adaptation and resilience building

  • Climate-smart and nature-based solutions

  • Gender-transformative and inclusive approaches

  • Strengthening livelihoods and social protection systems

  • Community ownership and institutional convergence

  • Evidence generation, learning, and adaptive management

Our Experience:

CAPL has implemented and supported climate resilience and livelihoods programmes across multiple geographies, working with communities, governments, donors, and institutional partners. Our portfolio includes initiatives on climate-smart agriculture, climate-resilient infrastructure, disaster risk reduction, social protection, renewable energy, sustainable livelihoods, women-led resilience, and nature-based solutions.
