Change Alliance is proud to partner with Fair Trade Advocacy Office (FTAO) to convene a series of multi-stakeholder consultations aimed at advancing responsible business conduct across India’s textile and garment supply chains.
From Delhi NCR to Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, over 115 stakeholders—including suppliers, trade unions, CSOs, farmer groups, brands, and worker voices—came together to co-create local, actionable solutions. The consultations surfaced urgent priorities: improving purchasing practices, increasing our collective understanding of living wages and living income, strengthening grievance mechanisms, navigating ESG compliance, and amplifying workers’ voices in shaping policy. Rooted in India’s NGRBC and international frameworks like the UNGPs and OECD guidelines, this initiative underscores our shared belief: global frameworks must be informed by ground realities.
Themes explored:
- Integration of Living Wages and Living Income into Supply Chains
- Enhancing responsible purchasing practices to ensure fair trade and promoting responsible disengagement practices that minimize negative impacts
- Building Meaningful Stakeholder Engagement Mechanisms to ensure Responsible Business Practices
Together with FTAO, we remain committed to ensuring inclusive dialogue and locally grounded approaches for a just, fair, and sustainable textile sector. Read about the preliminary findings here: https://lnkd.in/erfbdA_K
