Change Alliance, in partnership with Nomi Network, has undertaken an in-depth study to understand the systemic risks of forced labor in India’s apparel and home textiles sector. The initiative focused on identifying underlying vulnerabilities, evaluating current interventions, and mapping stakeholders across the supply chain.
Key Objectives of the Study:
- Comprehensive Analysis of Forced Labor Risks: The study examined migration patterns, demographics, and gender-specific vulnerabilities to unpack the complex factors contributing to forced labor in the apparel and home textiles sectors.
- Evaluation of Existing Interventions: It assessed the effectiveness of current policies and interventions targeting forced labor, identifying gaps and areas for improvement.
- Stakeholder Mapping: The project mapped key stakeholders who influence, address, or perpetuate forced labor, including an analysis of roles, power dynamics, and influence to inform strategic interventions.
Stakeholders identified are Located In:
- Garment and textile factory hubs
- Home-based worker hubs
- Source and destination regions for migrant workers
This study will provide the foundation for evidence-based intervention strategies aimed at eliminating forced labor risks and ensuring decent work conditions, particularly for migrant and women workers.
